The PowerShot A470 is the A460's replacement and the better camera of the two — 7.1 megapixels instead of 5, a 2.5-inch screen instead of 2.0, and Canon's DIGIC III processor bringing face detection to a camera that cost almost nothing new in 2008. DPReview called it superb value for money at the time, and the maths has not changed much: it is still one of the most camera you can get for the least money in the CCD digicam world.

In short
The cleanest of the Canon A-series bodies in this batch — excellent+ with minimal wear. Runs on two AA batteries, not included; rechargeable NiMH cells are the sensible choice. If you want one CCD digicam that is easy to live with, has a screen you can actually see, and takes ordinary SD cards, this is the pick of the group.
