The Canon PowerShot SX150 IS is the rare compact that gives you a CCD sensor and full manual control in the same body. Released in August 2011, it carries a 14.1 megapixel CCD — the sensor type people now specifically hunt for — behind a 12x stabilised zoom running from a genuinely wide 28mm out to 336mm, and unlike almost every other AA-powered compact it offers Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and full Manual. That combination is unusual: the colour rendering of a CCD digicam with the controls of a real camera. This one comes boxed with its paperwork.

In short
An AA battery charger is included, but the rechargeable AA cells themselves are not, and neither is a memory card — budget for both.
