About the product.

One of the sharpest lenses Nikon ever made, and one of the cheapest ways to own that fact. The Micro-Nikkor-P Auto 55mm f/3.5 is a pre-AI F-mount macro built on a modified Xenotar design, and the P in the name is Nikon's old element-count code for five. It focuses down to 1:2 on its own and, with an extension ring, all the way to life size. Optically it was so good that the basic design stayed in Nikon's catalogue in one form or another from 1961 to 1979.

Clean glass, smooth focus and aperture, and a reputation for flatness and resolution that still holds up against modern macro lenses. This is the pre-AI version, so check body compatibility before mounting on a metering Nikon.
