About the product.
Minolta made the SR-1s as part of its original SR series of manual-focus 35mm SLRs, produced through the second half of the 1960s. It sat below the meter-equipped SR-7 in Minolta's line, aimed at buyers who wanted the same rugged all-mechanical body and lens mount without paying for a built-in exposure meter. The SR mount used here is the direct ancestor of the later MC/MD Rokkor mount that Minolta kept using into the 1980s.
Collectors and users look for the SR-1s today mainly for its simplicity: no batteries, no electronics, just a mechanical shutter and a lens. It pairs well with early Rokkor-PF or Rokkor-TD lenses from the same period, and it works as an honest entry point into manual film photography or as a backup body for someone already shooting Minolta glass.
