About the product.
Sony's A99 II is the second and last full-frame A-mount SLT camera the company made, arriving as a swan song for the mount even as Sony's own investment shifted to E-mount mirrorless. It pairs a translucent mirror with an electronic viewfinder rather than the optical finder of a conventional DSLR, which is what lets it hold onto autofocus during continuous shooting and video. Photographers who still own Minolta/Sony A-mount glass, or who want in-body stabilisation with older manual lenses, are the main audience left seeking this body out.
The lens kit here is Sony's classic A-mount professional trio — the 16-35mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, and 70-400mm — covering wide to super-tele, backed up by 1.4x and 2x teleconverters for extending reach further on the 70-200mm or 70-400mm.
