About the product.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 is the oldest camera in our current digicam shelf and, for a lot of people, the one that looks most like the thing they remember. It is a 2007 compact with a CCD sensor — the sensor type the whole digicam revival is actually about, with the contrast and slightly cool, punchy colour that no phone will replicate. On the front is a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar opening to f/2.8, which is bright for a compact of any era, and behind it a real optical viewfinder, which almost nothing has any more.

In short

This generation of Sony takes Memory Stick, not SD — which is why we've included a Memory Stick PRO with it. Those cards are no longer made and sourcing one afterwards is the fiddly part of buying a W-series Sony, so this arrives ready to shoot. Load it, charge it, and you have a genuine 2007 CCD compact with Zeiss glass.
